Definitely ensure the fan is operating correctly, as a malfunctioning blower can cause the system to run without effectively dispersing cool air through the space.

Pulled to 500 on a job once, system failed with acid burnout 2 years later. Pulled to 300 on the next hundred jobs, no acid burnout. Correlation or causation? No idea. But I pull to 300 now.

It was within $300 of my number. I didn’t know whether to laugh or be impressed.

Small shop here. I tried doing socials myself and it just fell apart after a few weeks. Once work picked up, posting was the first thing to die.

Yeah, that’s exactly the frustrating part. It’ll stay lit while you’re standing there, then the moment you leave it goes out again. Those borderline thermocouples waste so much time because nothing looks obviously wrong.

Yep, especially in basements or utility rooms where doors get left open. Pilot stays lit until a cold draft hits it, then you’re chasing a problem that isn’t really the furnace.

Yeah same here. If it’s an older furnace and the pilot won’t stay lit that’s the first thing I think of. Not saying it’s always that, but more often than not it ends there for me.

Came across this while chasing a weird intermittent fault – meter box casing cracked and the whole thing barely hanging on.
Customer’s been having random power drops and nuisance trips, especially after rain and wind.
Hard to trust anything downstream when the supply setup itself looks like this.
