I charge it, get it running, then do a full leak search while its operating at pressure. Better chance of finding it with the system running than with nitrogen anyway. If I find it I fix it same day. If I dont I document it and schedule a follow-up.

We use HAP for most of our high-rise load calcs. Not perfect but it’s solid if you know how to use it properly.

This is honestly where so many jobs fall apart. No clear ownership, no clear authority, and everyone assumes someone else is responsible. You can fix equipment all day but that part never gets addressed.

check the actuator timing. if one damper is lagging a few seconds it’ll swing like crazy.

If it’s slow drift instead of instant jumps, it’s usually a failing sensor body.

Got a centrifugal chiller that keeps surging whenever the load drops and the condenser water temp gets too low.
IGVs and VFD look like they’re doing their job, but the machine still slips into surge every few minutes at part load.
Trying to figure out if this is a control sequence issue or something in the condenser side causing unstable conditions.

Seen this plenty – the VFD’s comm card gets noisy when the motor load shifts. Try isolating the shield at one end only.

Got a 24V control circuit that drops to around 18–19 volts as soon as multiple relays kick in.
No direct shorts found, wiring looks clean, and the transformer checks fine on idle.
Feels like either a load imbalance or a weak transformer that can’t hold under demand – gonna dig deeper tomorrow.
