Honestly the guys I see complaining about margins are usually the ones not tracking their actual numbers. They quote a job, do it, collect the money and feel busy, but they never actually sit down and figure out what they’re keeping. Most would be shocked.

I start calling suppliers in other cities when this happens. sometimes you can ship overnight from 3 states away faster than waiting on local stock.

Honestly depends what stage you’re at. Early on it was all referrals and repeat customers. Now it’s a mix. Online brings volume, referrals bring better quality jobs most of the time.

We adjusted slightly this year. Not a big jump, just enough to keep up with parts and labor. Customers haven’t really pushed back so far.

Seen this exact thing twice. Both times solenoid had failed open. Valve itself was fine. Swapped the solenoid both times and the valve shifted immediately.

That’s exactly my concern. One change from the GC and it turns into emails all day. Trying to see if anything actually speeds it up instead of adding steps.

Customer complained about poor airflow and high runtime even though the unit was cooling. Pressures were fine, compressor was doing its job, but supply temps never felt right inside. Compare mean time to diagnose vs mean time to repair. If MTTR is flat but MTTD is up, that’s your bottleneck.
