I once had a customer who put a tarp over their condenser in the fall for winter and forgot to take it off in the spring, ran the AC for about 3 weeks under a blue tarp before calling me, but a bath towel with bricks all summer is a new record.

Is the duct torn or just compressed. If the outer jacket held up you might get away with just reshaping it and supporting it properly so nobody stacks stuff on it again.

I crawled through standing water in a crawlspace exactly once in my career. Ruined my tools, soaked my meter, and the customer disputed the bill because the furnace died again a week later when the water came back.

It’s difficult. I sold a house when the market was high and worked a W2 at the same time to keep personal bills covered while the business found its feet. Definitely struggling right now with cash going out but we have good work lined up so trying to stay patient with it

No strain relief, insulation nicked back too far, and wire nuts/connectors missing entirely.
