Finally picked up a micron gauge this week. Been in the trade 9 years and have been judging vacuum on the manifold needle the whole time like everybody else I learned from.
First job I used it on — thought I had a good vacuum. Manifold needle looked right. Micron gauge said 1,840. Nowhere near where it needed to be.
Should have got one of these years ago.

Had the same thing happen on a commercial job. sub bailed, inspector failed three items, i had to bring in another crew at my cost. Took it as tuition.

Find the leak first. Always. Topping off without fixing it isn’t a repair, its just billing the customer twice.

We started posting job pics and short videos on Facebook and Instagram last year. Nothing fancy. Just day-to-day stuff. Didn’t blow up overnight, but now customers say “I’ve been seeing your posts for months.”

Didn’t even touch the unit today.
Spent 40 minutes just figuring out who actually controls it – tenant says one thing, building manager says another, drawings say something else.
By the time that was sorted, the actual problem almost felt secondary.

Room stays cool, but no insulation on the duct – feels like condensation waiting to turn into a mold complaint.

CHW pump VFD is jumping in big 10–15% steps instead of ramping smoothly, and it’s throwing the whole loop off every time it moves.
Feels like either the control signal is glitching or the drive just isn’t modulating the way it should.
